At home maternity shoot
Sadie is my neighbour and lovely pal. Her daughter Deedee and my youngest June are best buds. Deedee was born prematurely and Sadie didn't get to the point of a bigger bump with her pregnancy, so it was really important for her to document it this time round. It was so fab to be able to celebrate her getting to full term with this shoot. We ended up spending the whole shoot in the bedroom, proving that you don't need tons of space or varied locations for great results. We took images of the 3 of them together, Sadie alone (with bump!), Sadie and her partner Joey and Sadie with soon-to-be big sis Deedee. Here's what Sadie said:
"My first baby was born prematurely so I didn’t really get super pregnant. I’d promised myself that I would have a maternity shoot to really cherish my bump and my pregnancy this time around if I could. And it’s been such a lovely gift to give to my self. I had some ideas in my head of what I wanted - the classic bump shots etc and Becky definitely delivered those in a beautiful way but she also captured details I hadn’t thought of. There’s a shot of my bump where you can see ‘the line’ and my sticky out belly button and I just love it. I feel like that more than the classic holding my belly shots is just a massive celebration of my pregnancy!
What I really want wasn’t expecting though is how much of a treat it is to have photos with me and my little girl. As a mum you’re always taking pictures of your kids and your family and begging them to take a picture with you (which never turns out well!). I think when I booked the shoot I was only really thinking about capturing my bump and my pregnancy so it was such a lovely surprise when Becky sent over the shots of me and my daughter - they are so joyous and genuine - they’re the best present I couldn’t given myself!"
